went threw a few serpentian belts,

Dear forum members,

Before i bed mouth the S. belts,

Some facts,

Had a S. belt for a year or so, 2145 Continental, no problem,

Few weeks ago, my alternator pulley was loose, ripped the S. belt,

Engine over heated, for 2 minute, went off the freeway,

Than towed the car home,

Got a alternator from Na**,

But new S. belt, Continental, made in Romania,Made noise,

Got 2145 S. belt, Continental, same label, on the belt printed, Made in France,

Put the belt, No noise for 5 days,

Thinking of putting a pulley with a clutch, On the alternator,

From a VW Jeta 2006,

What car are you working on? The Jetta? Or is the belt or alternator from the Jetta?

Address the tensioner pivot, pulley, spring, and shock. Ignore it and the belt will be the least of your problems. The serpentine belt should last for many years, at least as long as a V-belt if not longer.
