Use of Nivomat shocks in place of SLS

Has anyone used nivomat struts in place of pump/sphere SLS in a W123?

To adapt a Nivomat from another, OEM, installation, would require that it be installed in a new application at the same "leveling length" as it was originally, when the new vehicle is at its desired ride height.

And you need a proper load bearing coil spring, right?

Or even an improper, disheveled, disreputable one; but yes.

I was wondering about that, so there's no adjustment to the setpoint then?

I have Nivomat self-leveling rear shocks on my 2002 Town & Country minivan. They are a somewhat rare option. It is the Limited edition w/ AWD and factory tow package. Not sure which of those triggers the Nivomat. The shock mounting brackets are much different than in regular vans. They use normal oscillations during driving w/ check valves to "pump up" the shocks. There are no electronics or air pressure. It is all hydraulic and built-in. You may have to drive a mile for them to self-level, or you could bounce the rear end if you just added a heavy load and it is sagging. They are at least 50% larger diameter than regular shocks. New ones are ~$250 ea, so I have been looking for backups during junkyard visits, but they aren't very common. BTW, Chrysler my 2002 was the last year of the AWD option, so looking for backup parts for that too since new parts are $$$$. They are not specific to Chrysler's, but I can't say what other vehicles use them or how the dimensions vary. For reference, I think my van weighs ~4500 lb ("minivan" became a ludicrous term long ago).
