Thinking of selling my 50k miles 84' 300D on bring a trailer
 

I'm thinking of selling my 84' 300D on bring a trailer after seeing what that 300TD sold for. Think its a good idea, and what do you think it will bring? Car has only 50k miles, everything works as it should, new paint, interior a 8.5 out of 10 and ZERO rust. Look over the photos and let me know what you think.

I say go for it. It's a nice clean car and BAT does have a history with clean cars.

But..... Do you have documentation of it's mileage history? I don't think it's an original 50K mile car from your pictures.

One thing I notice in the pics is that the wear on the steering wheel looks like more than what a 50k mile wheel might have. I've noticed this point brought up in other auctions and could see that being pointed out in Bat comments. Other than that, your car is super clean and I would think it should fetch a good price. Don't sell your wagon! I saw the recent road trip pics on Instagram. It looked like fun trip.

Agreed, with one exception. It does look to me like a 50K mile car. Of course if I were to see it with my own eyes, and touch it with my own fingers, I may have a different opinion. Seeing what I am seeing in your photos, I would think it would go for upwards of $10K on BAT.

You can hover over each dot to see the vehicle - most of the high ones are wagons (surprise) - but this should give you an indication of where the market there is. I think your car looks like it would do very well. your photos are pretty nice, but I'd even consider plopping down a couple hundred for a pro to take a bunch of flattering pics. the auctions that are well presented and where the seller responds to the questions in the comments - do the best. Most everybody agrees that nice photos always end up having a good return on investment.

If you look at histories, lots of them look like buy/sit on them/flip them purchases, a couple thousand miles over a couple years. This looks like the time to sell a wagon, histories show sedans in the $10,000 and less range.

There's more money than sense involved too. That sale on 6/20 of the silver wagon with the rebuilt motor and much cleaner underneath was like $12k. That blue one, rust is gonna start peeking through pretty soon.

Very nice, presentation is everything not that I know anything about selling cars - the blue one had good paint with a deep shine.

Here in the UK we get a USA prog called 'Chasing Classics', recently he bought a Volvo owned previously by an actor, everything was kept to back this up, things like sales doc, key chains all sorts of bits and bobs.

Looks very nice to me apart from the very suspicious steering wheel .

My 370,000 mile 240D has a better one than this .

5 or 10 years back, Elvira's 300TD sold for about $12k.

This was a 760 bought new, pretty sure it was Mr Newman's fitted with a supercharged V8, total sleeper.

I was going to ask for a price. But I noticed you are in New York, to far for me. I figured 50,000 undocumented miles shouldn’t be too bad.

I'm a novice when it comes to evaluating a W123's condition. How does one judge wear based on the steering wheel appearance?
