300CD leaking at door/window trim

Not necessarily diesel related, but this sub-forum seems to have more related traffic.

I have fixed numerous leaks on this w123 '78 300CD, but not sure about the proper way to address this one. I believe during heavy rains water overflows the gutter and travels down between the body and the gutter trim. There, it can wick/flow back into the window seal channel, and results in a fast drip from the front of the headliner into the door card pockets and seats. From what I can tell, is there is some type of foam/bonding agent further back along the window trim, but the area I circled water can pass through without any issue.

I am thinking of taping the lower section and sealing it from above with flowable neoprene rubber. I don't know if this section of trim is meant to be sealed to the body, or if this is normal.

Anyone run into this before? I believe the trim is different than on a w123 sedan.

Thanks.

Wow, this sucks .

I've had three W123 coupes and never any leaks there .

Let us know how you fix it, maybe some of the never hardening window sealant ? .
