95 E300D, what 'unobtanium' parts would be good to have on hand

While researching parts for my brakes I was surprised to find the reservoir is no longer available 'new'. I plan to try to find a good used spare.

I can see how the car wouldn't be driveable if the reservoir developed an old age plastic failure.

What other items might be good to have on hand if they can be found at a salvage yard?

Differential
CV joints
Headlights, taillights, windshield wipers, rear view mirror, turn signal stocks, glow plug relay, that is all I can think off.

amen to that.

the factory one on the E300D W124 is like they superglued an extra port to the old one in the parts warehouse.

What does ' Monovalve can be substituted for earlier one ' mean?

Does it mean an earlier year than my 95? Or is there one that looks different but would work?

I have read the Mercedes new part has had multiple short time failures due to quality of construction as mentioned by Zulfigar.

The housing hasn't been a problem for me.

In my case, the plunger and solenoid were shot.

Those internals can be taken from the less-expensive SL600 unit: 1147412049

I suppose if you found a way to plumb in a standalone electric boost pump, you could replace the entire unit.

The brake reservoir for non-ASR cars is NLA but the one for ASR cars fits, just has an extra nipple on it to feed the ASR system. They're still available.

Thanks for the comments, good to know new parts can be found that work. I'll order those soon. Especially like being able to get the monovalve solenoid and motor new.

Trying to make a list for my next trip to Dallas FT Worth salvage yards.
