Euro Lights Connectors

Tips for others. I recently bought a set of Euro lights on ebay for my 1984 300D. Only $52/pr, but $80 shipping from Latvia. Should have bought a 2nd set for my 1985 since $45 to ship additional. My concern was the lights might not include the back covers since not shown in photos and when I asked the seller, a cryptic reply "exactly as shown", but they arrived w/ covers. The fronts appear to be glass.

Installation issue is that the connector differs. You need a 6-pin connector housing. You could use the taillight connector from a junkyard car, but I found that Peach Parts carries them and affordable. You need qty 2 of PN's "006 545 80 28" (housing) and "009 545 30 28". I bought qty 4 of each (for future 1985 job). Pop open your existing 4-pin connectors and swap the wires & pins over to the new 6-pin. Don't use the scary $28 extension adapters on ebay. You can find a good pdf writeup on BenzWorld, but briefly:

1- empty
2- brn (gnd)
3- parking, wire from turn/parking connector
4 - wht/blk (hi beam)
5 - yel/blk (lo beam)
6 - gry/grn (fog)

Rant on shipping. Two connectors w/ backshells were $7 at P-P, but $6 to ship. I upp'ed to 4 connectors (to also do my 1985) and shipping jumped to $9.50. MP Parts Prime (dealership) wanted just $3 per connector set, but $16 to ship 2. Have these people heard of USPS small flat-rate box ($5 "if it fits, it ships"). I ship similar small items to ebay buyers for $3. and even receive similar stuff from China for <$1 shipping.

Haven't installed yet since I need to repair a little collison damage and paint. I'll post if any issues installing.

Thumbs up Euro Lights

A link or E-Bay item # would be nice .

I used junkyard 6 pin connectors, the DEPO brand (IIRC) wasn't adjustable in any way so I was very glad the car had no old frontal crash damage to screw up the light's alignment .

You're not far from the Pick-A-Part junkyard off Ca. S.R. 99...... the last time I stopped in there they had a cherry dark blue 240D I'da cheerfully paid $1,000 for even not running, it was that nice ~ paint, upholstery, tires, everything .

I still have the two knob Becker radio they sold me for $15 out of it .
