Instrument panel lighting help
Ok, I need a little assistance with the instrument panel lights. My problem is that they do not work! Ok they worked fine (except needing to jiggle the rheostat knob occasionally) before I took out the instrument panel to fix the clock. Now, they simply do not work. (Clock works fine though ). At first I thought it was the rheostat, so I jumpered it by soldering a wire between the brass contacts on the back. I measured it with a meter and I got 0 ohms between the contacts so I figured it would be good, but still no lights. I checked the fuses and they are all good. The climate control lights and shifter light do not work either.
So, unless all the bulbs decided to go out at the same time, I have a wiring issue. For starters, can someone tell me which of the several connectors on the back of the panel carry the voltage for the lights? Is it the single 12V wire that plugs in behind the tach, or it is the multi pin round connector that plugs in on the left side of the panel? If it is the multi pin, can you tell me which pin. Many thanks, Glenn
