ontool.com sells them. Better to drain out the bottom so you inspect the oil for possible engine problems.

Good Luck!

If you're not in a rush, West Marine has them on sale several times a year: www.westmarine.com.

Wink

I made one out of a KMart helium tank, a few fittings, some old hose, and an old vacuum pump. Works like a champ. Cost me absolutely nothing except a few minutes time.

dub,

Be careful in your purchase of a suction type oil changer. I have seen posts that the topsider brand will melt if used to suck the oil out while it is at operating temperature.

It is very important to change the oil while hot, as hot as possible. When the oil is hot, the contaminants are churned up in the oil and will come out with it. If the oil is cold, some of the contaminants are clinging to the inside of the engine, and if left behind result in sludge and acid build up.

I personally prefer draining it out the bottom, but for those who insist on taking out the top, get a system that can take it out while hot.

Best of luck,

Which brand won't melt in your hands?

I have always crawled under cars to change the oil. But... I am moving in two weeks and won't have the garage built at the new house for some months yet. I'll need to suck the oil out for a little while since I don't want to upset the neighbors.
