300SDL Blown exhaust manifold gasket, how to R&R?

1986 300SDL
I've checked the flex pipe and coupling from above and below, no leaks, no soot. I see exhaust smoke at the very rear manifold tube and I can feel soot.

How hard is this job? What should I look out for? What tools do I need? Honestly the smell is so bad I'm going to buy respirators at home depot when driving.

Don't forget to grease the screw and threads on the spring compressor.
