believe me climate change is good, the earth will take care of CO2,by growing further north trees. When to much oxygen is made, animals get massive to they won't die from to much oxygen. With huge amount of oxygen natural ice age comes back.Weight on the crust causes more volcano's CO2 and the world warms up again.
The problem is no diesel,or gasoline engines,it's oil.We can make cleaner fuels.

In the Netherlands I expect they will be forced off the road before 2020.

Lots of them are already banned from entering several large cities.

Whoa. That is unbelievable that they can ban your old car off the road.

I guess I’m spoiled in the US. I feel “outlawed” means no new diesels being sold or harsh regulations limiting numbers which is indeed happening in California.

But taking my car from me...I’m feeling a Charlton Heston moment coming on.

Legislation is done differently in different parts of the world.

The way it is working here in Holland is that vehicle number plate recognition software is used to issue fines / taxation charges for drivers who enter into pollution restricted zones in diesel vehicles (whether they knew they should have been there or not). Life is getting to be more and more expensive for owners of diesel engined vehicles. The dutch way seems to be to price people off the road rather than issuing an all out ban. (For now)

At the modern diesels that have been shown to be more polluting than some of the older models are being allowed into the low pollution areas.

Crazy how diesels literally built and powered the industrialized world and know everyone wants them banned.

Don't forget to grease the screw and threads on the spring compressor.

The market will dictate their demise before a full ban. EVs are the primary focus of almost every automaker now. A few such as Mazda are still doing some neat work with ICEs. Nissan's variable compression engines also come to mind.

That said, OTR trucks are a way off from using anything but diesel at scale.

I'll say it, the left wants them banned. The left likes to ban, restrict, and regulate everything really.

Ban Diesels
Ban guns
Ban older cars

Ban political trolls likes Alex Jones
Twitter does black Twitter purge (the immature NSFW but hilarious side of Twitter)
Twitter banned ANY kind of conservative opinions
Censoring Nazi Germany content in WW2 based video games
Etc

Well, in the meantime I'll hoard as many Mercedes Diesels as possible.

We need machines that take CO2 as fuel then emit breathable oxygen and diamonds.

Diesels get bad press. Although their visible particulate emissions are worse, the actual emission of harmful oxidation gasses is less than those of gasoline engines.

C'mon Botnst with some numbers and actual learned comment.

i read a story about that where governments pushed to get particulate emissions down and it actually exacerbated the greenhouse effect because there was less particulate to reflect solar radiation and more was able to penetrate the atmosphere.
i remember talking to my friend in when i lived in New Mexico about us opening up a shop together.....he didn't want to because he predicted the demise of the car, due to it's harmful environmental impact, would be forthcoming......that was 1993.
i'm sure it will happen but i doubt in the next 30 years

Diesel emits more NOx than petrol when combusted.
