Broken Electircal Connection w123 300TD

3 Attachment(s)
I was cleaning an electrical connection on my 1985 w123 300TD behind the valve cover and it crumbled in my hand. The wires run down to something on the fuel injection area. my problem is that it plugs back in in three different ways. see photos. The female side has a dimple but the male side does not. so I don't know which way it needs to go now. what it the part called that I goes to and which way shout I plug it in?

I don't know what it is for but...Consider peeling back some outer sheath insulation on each side of the connector close to the plug to identify the wire color codes on the inside and then orient it in the proper clock position.

Good luck!!!

Look closely for pin and socket numbers on each half of the connection. Match 1-1, 2-2, 3-3.

Otherwise, peel back the wire loom material and match wire colors.

Rack position sensor?

Bad MPC @ Firewall

That's the rack position sensor, used to actuate the EGR valve, a thing I believe the engine can do without .
