Electrical question

I was cleaning some of my connectors pulling them apart and checking for corrosion. when I pulled this particular connection apart it crumbled in my hands. I taped up the end that fell apart with some aviation electrical tape. But when I went to plug it back together I noticed that it has a slot on one end so it can only get plugged in one way. But the other end doesn't have a corresponding slot to mate up to. so it will plug in, in any direction. so now to my question, what is the part called that it is connected to on the injector housing and what does it do. And how to determine the right way to plug it back up

You might get a response if you identify your car.
