I have seen this wagon in person, and it is worth every bit of Rich's asking price. What Rich calls "rust" is relative to the Southern California climate - not Toronto rust...

The four little spots of rust are minimal in my opinion. There is no structural rust, or even rotting in the normal places (bottom of doors around the weatherstrip, bottom of fenders).

15k? Yep, better put it on BAT, the crack runs strong there.

I only arrived at that price knowing what is invested in the car (new engine, A/C, and wheels/tires), and consulting those more knowledgeable about TD values than myself. Look a completed sales on B.A.T., and you will see cars in worse shape overall for more money. Yes you will see some in the same or better shape, but the values are still high for these cars nowadays. They are'nt getting cheaper either.

I saw the engine going in... it's a pretty phenomenal example of a w123 wagon.

I bet that if he posted it on BAT it would fetch 15k if not more honestly. Plus that rust is totally fixable.

Hmmmm...maybe I should put my 1987 300D on BAT...it's super minty with 156k miles and no rust anywhere. Wonder if I could fetch 20k...it'd pain me, but I think I'd let her go for 20k (and then probably deeply regret it, haha).

Rich, Good luck with the sale! My blue wagon died on BaT, but the high bidder ended up buying it closer to my asking price that I has listed on here and Craig's list. They are selling for more normally on BaT. I think time and day make a big difference. Mine ended at 4:30 on a Friday. I would much like it to be the last auction of the day, Mon.-Thurs.

I am glad to hear that yours sold. What do you think about the asking price for my wagon? I know you have not seen it in person, but considering the pros/cons I have listed, is it comparable to your (former) wagon? What are your thoughts? Thanks, Rich

15k is high for here, but I've seen wagons go for 30k on BAT --- so figure out your reserve and give it a shot! Good luck!

here is page with a chart of the w123 BAT sales from 2015 to now. quite a few over 15k (and probably 99% of those are wagons)

Post 300TD Sales Value

It may be more than some folks want to pay but, try to build one this nice for $15,000.00 .

Whomever buys this car will be well pleased .
