How does this turbo sound for an OM606?
I haven't been able to get activated over at superturbodiesel to ask my question there so I figured I'd ask it here for now. With my new 99 E300 acquisition and the desire to have a fast car (since my 300ZX hasn't been on the road in ages), I thought of an old turbo I have laying around.
I bought this turbo for my 1JZ I was going to swap into an SC300 I had and never got around to using it. I got it from a guy on the Starion/Conquest forum. He had it on his car and it was way too much turbo for him, so he sold it. I bought it because of the .68 hot side, which should have spooled great on the 2.5 1JZ motor. It's an older technology turbo, but I already have it, so no cost for a new turbo. Anyways, here are the specs he gave me: Precision SC63 T4 big shaft P trim .68 turbine with 3" v-band outlet S cover with anti surge I used to have much more info on it when I had the turbo handy so I could Google the various numbers on the housings for extra info. Anyway, Precision rated this as a 700-750hp turbo. Granted, I don't want to run annnnnywhere near that much, just curious if this would be a good turbo on lower boost to get me up and going or if it's going to spool TOO fast and run out of steam because it's a .68 hotside and 3.0 liters of displacement pushing it. I could probably pick it up from my parent's house next time I'm out that way at work and re-Google the specs if anyone needs more information off of it. |

Fuel is your biggest bottle neck, not the turbo.
That turbo will give you no power gains since your injection pump will remain stock.

Well I know the injector pump needs to be hotrodded and supporting mods, I was just talking about for future use. That's assuming I can afford a transmission build to get it to actually handle power lol Surely, Mercedes didn't include a transmission capable of handling big power right out of the box on their E300s.

Smaller turbo housing the better. Faster spool. Look for an HY35 cummins turbo have a manifold built with a flange for the HY35. They’re good for 300hp
