I need to fabricate a down pipe for an 87 190 TD. help finding pictures.

The down pipe on my 87 190TD is FUBAR and I need to fabricate a new one. Welding up a new pipe wont be an issue, however I would like to see a picture or diagram of a OE one. Specifically I need to know if an OE pipe has a flex joint.

Yes, it does. The pipe makes a sharp downward turn just behind the turbo, and the flex section is in the upright section that follows. It then follows the angles of the floorpan straight back to the center resonator. Diameter of the pipe is 55mm, larger than the non-turbo, which is 48mm.

It took a few days, but I was able to weld up a replacement exhaust system for the car. The new exhaust cost about $90.00 in material.

The original flex joint had ruptures many years ago and the previous owner used some sort of high temp wrap to keep the exhaust going in the right direction. I suspect the previous owners repair was always leaking because the new exhaust is so much quieter and smoother.
