OM 616 Dimensions

Hello,
I'm swapping an OM616 into my Suzuki samurai. I don't currently have access to the motor. I was wondering if someone here has the general dimensions of the engine. Height, width, length and height from the engine mount to the bottom of the oil pan. I looked around the internet and couldn't find these dimensions. Thank you in advance

I don't have that handy but what does your Samari weigh? Is it a separate frame construction?

The 240 motor will run around 485# IIRC.

I think it weighs just over a ton. This conversion has been done in the past that I have read about in other forums. The samurai has a chassis with body/cab bolted to the chassis. It is not a unibody like the w123s if that is what you are asking.

That is what I meant. Thanks!

Thank you! Also, what is the width from motor mount arm to the apposing motor mount arm? I appreciate it.

I'm going to ditch the A/C. Also, for now, the power steering pump. I'm installing a remote oil filter. Not a lot of weight difference but it is something.
On a side note, I have personally pulled a samurai engine. When I say I've pulled that engine, I mean I have literally lifted the engine out of the engine bay by myself. The engine probably weighs less than 100 lbs.

That's a lotta difference. I might look into something more compact like one of those little pushrod diesels offered some time back in chevettes or Ford Rangers. What we ran into in my 617 /39 studebaker swap was dealing with the deep front sump on the benz motor.

I've read on other forums that the oil pan is definitely a concern and that it is "close." The steering linkage is a concern of mine, however 3" lifts are a common thing on these samurais. I'm thinking that is the route I may go.

Michael had to notch the front pan on my 39 CE to clear the crossmember. We notched it out and then extended it down 1" so the oil capacity was not reduced. If there is a diff there I would think it might be pretty critical.

A little Kubota engine might work too.

The Kubota 2203 and 2003 engines are about the same dimensions as the 0m616. Maybe the Kubota 1803 or 1703 might be smaller but they are a 3 cylinder engines
