"Mirror" Mounted Front and Rear Dashcams

Had a lady scrape my car today and run away. Thankfully, I followed her and got a picture of her license plate.

There's only some paint on the rubber bumpers which I'm happy to sand down. I plan on filing a police report because I hate people who drive away after accidents.

Anywho, I am now in the market for a drop in dashcam that fits over the rear view mirror. I plan on running a USB cable through the trim to power it.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a dashcam that has a front and rear camera built into it? I don't want to have to run extra cameras to the rear.

Think something like this:

Minus the nubs that hang below. Is there anything that has the cameras integrated into the glass?

Worst case, I get this one.

The example you have is a very poor choice due to extremely limited FOV. I have been using dashcams for a couple years now and the wide FOV is critical to capture things that happen before you get hit. Those wouldnt even catch a side fender hit.

To your question, I dont have a rec as I dont like the available consumer-grade units. Very expensive and bells and whistles you dont need but look cool. If its an accident liability tool you dont need sound or gps location. Speed can cut both ways. You need to have a wide FOV, 120 or greater and very good resolution to read plates, along with night performance.

I use Mobius cams which are inexpensive and small. Downside is you have to mount them and run wire. Upside is good performance and desktop configurable. They cost way less than your insurance deductible. Surprising how many people refuse to "get it".

Thanks Mark. I guess I should add that this is going on a convertible which makes mounting a bit trickier. I'll keep looking.

I just run a regular window mounted dash cam in both of my vehicles....if you put it to the right of the mirror/behind it you can't even see it when driving.

I'm very interested in purchasing a mirror-mounted front and rear dashcam as well. I was ready to buy an HD Mirror Cam, but it turns out they seem to be of shoddy quality and poor resolution. I don't want anything that sticks onto the glass as the Arizona sun would fry it, and I use a retractable sun shade with which it would interfere.
