Again do not think you can switch the left to the right because of the two extra pins. However you can switch the right to the left and then see if the left side stops working; that would prove that switch bad.
Guess you could go to a junkyard and pull a right switch. |

Wow, Dieasel300,
Most of the people on this board are Very Nice and Helpful, Even if my questions don't make sense to you, seem repetitive or stupid. If I ask something it's because I'm confused or want to make sure of something. I don't have a concern Over the amount of money for a switch, I just like to see how things work, for my own information. Really, just ignore this thread if it irritates you. |

Window Switch 'fun' (?)
? So ;
Do the passenger side windows work yet ? . I've had very good luck taking the rockers out and cleaning all the accumulated crud out (beware, sometimes they're *really* grotty inside), polishing the contact rockers and pins then re assembling and re installing . I work over some light colored cloth, old towels etc. as those tiny ball bearings, coil springs and contact strips love to bounce off and get lost . Remember to that any and all fuses that do not have yellow metal strips are bad and will cause you trouble sooner if not later , cheap to replace . Save the anger and frustration for when you're fooling with the disassembled switch .

Thanks natel...
yes, drivers side work!!...to satisfy my curiously, I just took the 2 toggle switches from the "working" side and put into the other side, just to see if that works, I assume, if that works, I just need to replace the 2 toggle switches, If not, I replace the whole thing, if that makes sense. I'm curious. Thanks |

Once again, the right side switch assembly is one unit that combines two switches. They cannot be separated. You need to purchase a right side window switch that fits in your console. After market switches commonly do not have an internal light. Genuine MBZ switches do.

BWhitmore...I know. I was talking about replacing only the switches.
They are all the same. I know there is a specific left (with the extra two prongs), and the right side. Are you saying that the toggle switches themselves can't be interchanged? because they are exactly the same. It can be confusing in terms of dialogue, some say switches and they mean the whole switch assemby, and sometimes someone will mean literally one toggle switch. |

At the risk of getting told off by the OP again....in your case the "window switch" is that long assembly with both of the right hand side switches in it. You cannot buy the individual switches separately for your car. You must buy the "assembly" with both switches in it.

The individual toggle switches are not available separately. The switch for the right side combines an individual switch for the right front window and a switch for the right rear which fits into the console. The same for the left, however the switch for the left also includes a lock out feature that if desired, prevents anyone seated in the back seat, such as children, from operating the rear windows.

Perfect. I know the part(s) are sold here, but I'm just looking around.
For this part, do I want OEM parts or aftermarket, does it matter?... My original toggle switches had round white dots on them, I don't see those, but that is not important. Thanks |

Window Switches
Originally those white circles had black stickers on them indicating windows.....
I've taken apart and serviced both OEM and replacement types, I prefer the OEM but unless you own and use the car as much as us nutters do there's no real need .
