I looked at the vid in your 2nd post. The tach works but engine RPM needs to be elevated, this is a sign the sensor gap is too large.

Yes, for purposes of general discussion, harmonic balancer more or less = my post 12.

The diesel needs a groove cut in the pulley. The groove causes a disruption in the magnetic field which the pickup senses.

it's a pin on the harmonic balancer that spins.

below is a picture of the pin when the pickup sensor wire is removed, a side shot

as well as another clear shot of the pin when i was taking the old pickup sensor off and then the new sensor on

and within that picture i put an arrow, to ask if i loosen this bolt can i shift the bracket to make it a bit closer ?


this car was a m110 engine, but now has om617. I bought a diesel tach+ tach amp + pickup wire seperately
