Correct O-Ring for OM617 Fuel Filter Bolt

Gents, I can't seem to get the correct O-Ring for my fuel filter bolt. This is the fourth or fifth time I've had it off in the last month.

The pictures show the two O-Rings I ordered. One was too small, one too large. The picture also shows that I have the bracket of part # 6150920108, which I understand has a bearing on the type of bolt and therefore the type of O-ring to order?

Any help on the correct O-Ring would be appreciated.

The copper crush washer I received was the correct size, although the original washer was aluminum.

The 003 997 58 48 part number should be the correct size for your fuel hollow bolt.
When installed it may look undersize, that's just because the old one has become deformed over time

The size of the proper o-ring for your application is 2mm for the cross section and 10mm for the inner diameter.

Thanks guys. Apparently I bought and have the correct part, I just need to stretch it over the bolt and let nature take its course

I'm thinking I ordered the correct o-ring then discovered that the harbor freight metric set contains extras. There was also something for the shaft of the oil filter cover.

hi,

top o ring on the fuel filter bolt i've read is
14mm ID x 19mm OD x 2.5mm
which is in my kit.

but i've seen 2 measurements offered for the bottom o ring on the fuel filter bolt:

10mm ID x 17mm OD x 2.5mm thick
and
10mm ID x 15mm OD x 2.5mm thick

does anyone know which of the 2 is correct?
the 17mm one isn't in my o ring kit!

thanks

I'm not sure of the size but I'm sure as you know on the early models the fuel filter bolt had a metal crush washer and one o ring. The later models just had two o rings. The part numbers for them are:

000-997-00-48
003-997-58-48

These will fit exactly as you need and you can get them from the dealer or research further to find the sizes.

There is no such thing as a 10mm ID x 17mm OD x 2.5mm O-ring. 10mm ID + 2*2.5mm = 15mm OD.

ah yes that makes sense, just wanted to make sure there wasn’t some kind of thicker flatter o ring that ended up 17mm, cause i saw that size claimed as the right size more times on the forums than the 15mm size!

so the final correct o ring sizes for the fuel filter bolt are:

top:
14mm ID x 19mm OD x 2.5mm

bottom:
10mm ID x 15mm OD x 2.5mm

thanks.

there’s loads of info in these forums, but most isn’t ever compiled into an organized way, there could be a full peach parts user manual with easy to look up specs updated for 2019!
