300D-5 speed from Germany

I am looking at a 85-300D 5 speed tranny with 210000 miles. She is asking $4,500. Is it a reasonable price? What do I expect to do (service vice) if I purchase it? The car overall is clean, have all service records. All new bushings had been done, some injectors, air condition unit was replace...Is there any differences between Germany car and American (Germany) car? Thanks in advance.

Is it a W123 or a W124? Didn't they start selling the W124 in Europe in '85?

Otherwise, I think the Euro's OM617 is pretty damn similar to a US OM617 and I don't think you'd have a problem finding parts considering just how many 300D's there are in the US!

I do think that the price is a lil high though unless it's really in a close to excellent cond.

I'd say the price is high, but in used cars the right price is whatever the buyer and seller can agree on. With 210K miles, I'd guess a reasonable price would be around $3,000.

Regardless of whether this is a 123 or 124 car, given the mileage I believe this car is overpriced. That said, I would love to have it either way.

There are many subtle differences in a Euro and US car, but none that would make the car inferior IMHO.

I think the 124 diesel cars were 2.5 liters only, but I'm not at home where I can check my books.

Good luck,

Yes, it is a bit overpriced but it is a very unique, rare car. Somewhere around $3000 would be fair if everything is in excellent shape.
