URO HVAC Blower - W123

Looking for any possible feedback on the URO W123 blower assembly. Time for a replacement and the price seems very reasonable vs. a new Behr unit.

If you can find the brushes, you can also replace the brushes in the motor casing the back cover is glued on, chisel it off and your inside the motor housing.

I ended up buying a a Uro as well and it is louder than the stock motor, however it works just as well. Ive maybe done 6mo of driving with it on. So far so good.

Note on the original blower motor. Some have Bosch Motors and some like mine have Siemens Motors. The Bosch Motor has the brushes on a different end then the Siemens motor does.

Also I found a lot of crud and dried up bearing lube as well as a corroded circuit bogged my Blower Motor down to a stand still. I fixed everything and did not need to replace the brushes.

Note that one member (can't remember if it was on this forum or another) found that and AC tubing ran directly under his Blower Housing preventing him from removing it (no one has ever offered and explanation as to why it was routed that way).
It is easy enough to take a look first.

There probably are very limited producers of the aftermarket motors. There should be a sticker or marking on it that identifies the manufacturer. Known for quality or not should be on the web.

I bought a uro blower, it was *very* noisy and blew less air volume so I gave it away and bought up several BOSCH blowers and put brushes in them .

It's important to do a full job and oil the oillite bushings and clean out the decades of accumulated dust as that makes them run hotter .

Several had commutators worn at an angle so new brushes were not an option .

I'm in the Desert a lot so proper blower volume and lack of noise is critical to me, if your W123 is just a hobby car the $100 uro one will prolly do the trick .

The “source” sells the motor only for ~$100 I think last I checked. I bought one there for my w126 years ago. I took the squirrel cage off my only one and put it onto the new one. It’s a Bosch motor I believe. Worked quite well. You have to be a little car full with the old plastic cage, but it’s doable.

If your do break a small bit off (I did) just break the same bit off the other side for balance. This had no affect on the effectiveness of the blower.

Check out this review of aftermarket parts - the URO blower is mentioned. Consider yourself lucky that an option exists - no URO option for the W114/ W115 motor, despite hundreds of owners looking for them.

Updating this post in regard to the URO blower motor. Decided to try the URO motor.

Out of the box, the quality looked good. The installation replacement fit was fine. After installation, the motor runs smooth and sounds no louder than the original.

This seems to be a very good and cost effective option for blower motor replacement
