B19/11 Exhaust Temp Sensor part number - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

I have looked all over the www for the part number for this part. It is the exhaust temperature sensor upstream of turbocharger B19/11 for a 2009 E320 Bluetec OM642. I have tried all the keywords on the major Euro parts sites, and can't find the proper part number. I find sensors for the catalyst, DPF and everything but the one upstream of the turbo. I did find this one:

Why is it so hard to find this part? It is on every OM642 in every chassis (including Jeep).

Searching in the EPC, looks like you need part 000 905 67 04

I know this is an old thread, but I have the same car as OP (2009 E320 Bluetec) and I am seeing a different part number in EPC for this sensor. I see A0009053805. Sharing in case others stumble across this via internet search like I did.

I was mistaken, the car is actually a 2007. The part number may be the same as an '09. I typed the number A0009053805 on ebay, and came up with the turbocharger.
Part # A0009056704 looks exactly like the part

Agree that A0009053805 does not turn up many results via internet search but there are several sites that carry it, including my local MB dealer and Pelican Parts. See EPC screenshot for my 09 VIN. The part number must have changed between 07 and 09.

This sensor has either gone bad again, or needs to be cleaned. It is just as easy to replace it as it is to remove and clean, so a new one is on order. I found one in the US on the "Rock" that sells Auto parts. All the others I could find are in foreign countries, and are more expensive.....Rich

Any tips for replacement? Is it hard to access? My 2009 is throwing the code for it pretty frequently so I am ordering a replacement.

It is quite hard to access, but doable. I have done it twice, but found out it is not worth removing just to clean it. Cleaning it does work, but may only last a few months. After replacing it the first time, it lasted a couple years. If I remember correctly, there is not much room to move a wrench, so it needs to be flipped back and forth to get a bite on the flats of the sensor, moving it only a few degrees at a time.

WIS instructions, attached, say to remove the exhaust pipe from the turbo. Is that necessary? My sensor is in the mail so trying to prepare!

I don't remember having to do so, that may be why it was hard to do. Removing the turbo elbow will definitely make it easier to do. I would say to try it first, not removing the elbow. If you have to remove the elbow, you will need new gasket(s).

You will just need the big triangular gasket if you take the elbow piece off.
And the 3 single use bolts that hold it to the exhaust side of the turbo.
The bottom end of the pipe just has a band clamp, no gasket.

On the back of the turbo, the top 2 bolts have to come all the way out, the bottom bolt only has to be loosened as the elbow has a slot at the bottom.
But you do have to replace the 3 bolts as they are stretch to yield.

From my turbo thread (http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/403465-om642-vnt-turbo-actuator-issues.html), I bold faced the parts that need to be replaced for the exhaust elbow.

1 - A219 492 00 80 - Flange Gasket to Turbo - (turbo exhaust discharge gasket) - 49/222/70
3 - A000 990 67 03 - Bolt M8 x 20 - (holds turbo exhaust discharge elbow to turbo) - 49/222/80
2 - A642 142 18 80 - Gasket - (used on both ends of EGR 90 deg. tube) - 14/090/45 and 14/090/55
2 - A000 990 69 03 - Bolt M6 x 16 - (used on exhaust collector end of EGR tube) - 14/090/50
2 - N000000 001119 - Bolt M6 x 33 - (used on EGR housing end of EGR tube) - 14/090/55

Thanks Jay - always so helpful! Hopefully I can get it off without removing the elbow but looks doubtful from some YouTube videos I saw on an ML.

Yes, please try it without removing the elbow. Like I said, I have done it twice WITHOUT removing the elbow, and it can be done. I remember that the wrench needs to be flipped around every time, because only a little movement of the nut can be made with the limited access. Once a couple turns of the nut are complete, I remember being able to rotate the nut with just the tip of the wrench, while pulling up the wire a little to take the pressure off the threads. You will understand better after you actually do it.....Rich

Yeah that little bugger is in there, but I would try it Roll Guy's way first before having to break the elbow connection.

Pretty sure the connector is the gray tab type, you slip a screwdriver under the tab and pop it up about a 1/4 inch. Then you put your thumb on the tab and press in and slide the plug out (similar to unplugging an Ethernet or phone connector).

When you go to plug it back in slide it in until it seats then push the tab back down to lock it in.

I just finished replacing the sensor without taking the elbow off. I was nervous about stripping the head so I wanted to use a wrench that would fit well before really cranking on it. For others that want to do the same...

My old sensor was likely original and the connector would fit through both of the above wrenches. The new connector was slightly bigger are may have fit if i pushed hard enough but I just used a normal split end wrench to tighten.

Now to run it for a bit and see if the code is gone for good.
