1992 300D for $11,000??
I am looking at a 92 300D with 150,000 miles on it. the man is asking for 11.000 I think I can get it for about 10,000. He has most of the records so I can see when he made certain repairs and he seems to have taken good care of it. He recently chenged the timing belt as it was a belt that year, and has kept up with things. what problems if any should I epect, but foremost do you guys think it is a good price for that year and in very good condition? Any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you very much, and I hope to be part of the diesel family very soon!

Who says they had belts that year? AFAIK, all OM602s have timing chains. I think all MB engines thus far have timing chains.
It has to be said so I'll say it -- take it to a dealership or trusted independent for a prepurchase inspection. It'll be the best $100-150 you'll spend whether or not you buy the car. Negotiate the price when you have the results of the inspection. It might be worth $12,000 Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL |

Based on what they are going for around here I would be hard pressed to pay $11k for one I don't care what condition it was in. You can practically purchase a '94/'95 for that amount. I would think more along the lines of $5k if it is in excellent condition and everything works.

i paid 9000.00 plus tx/lic. for my 300CE with 156,000 miles... on it...but mine is a coupe and one of an 1839 production run for 1992...
alon's (ashman) got one too.... we've got two of the 1836 1992 300CE coupes ever made woo hoo... from what my buddy hi-power/ernesto says.... the total run of 300CE's were only a mere 15,000 total!!!!! so i dunno is a 300D worth paying 11,000? for? um i dunno..i just saw a 1992 500E sell for 19900.00 ugh wish i could have gotten that one

kbb.com says that a 92 300D with 150K miles in good condition is worth $6,000 as a trade-in in my area. If a decent one was advertised for $4-5000, it would be gone by the time you called.
$10,000 is not a bad price based on research, but it's true that you're in the price range of a nice 95 E300. Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL |

That price does sound high...I would thisk that car would be in the 8-9K range....but those are great cars....I sold mine at 208K miles and never had any problems except normal maintenance
If you found a 95 for that price it would have high mileage on it but I have seen guys asking 5-6K for 80's SD's....so take that in account I was offerend 10K by a dealer(as a trade in) on my 1992 with 208K in 1997...I decided to sell it outright to a family member who was interested who still has the car with 300K on the clock now Warren 1992 300SD 142K Columbus Ohio |
