When Is someone on here gonna start making superpumps....

Is the swedish Monopoly gonna live on forever??

Or does someone on here have the knowledge to build and tune super pumps.

For me and I'm sure a lot of people the problem with Mercedes diesel is that it is just too damn slow.

Yes I know we could goto dieselmakin for $1200 but it would really be cool if maybe a few people on here could pitch in to add the proper equipment to ones shop...

And we could have our very own pump tuner within the forum. Questions could be asked easier, communication would be easier, shipping cheaper, etc

Annddd Maybe even a members discount haha.


I could think of one person on here that is the injector king that would be my nominee.

If the price could get down to somewhere around $700 shipped using the regular American 617t pump, id imagine they would fly out the door.


Although I imagine this couldn't be as fathomable as I imagine or else someone would already be doing it.


And ya I know there are supposedly shops in America that can do it now but one seems to get bad reviews and the other is always "sold out" of elements whenever I've checked

Most people who own old mb diesels are not looking for performance.


I used to commute in a 240D automatic and to me the performance was adequate.

The only company doing high-performance pump builds stateside that i know of, is BenzForce, I think they are in Texas. They do use the Swedish-built DieselMekin parts though. There are probably others out there that do this as well.

I think the first poster answered his own question. It makes little sense for a U.S. shop with tens of thousands of dollars of equipment, rent and employees to pay (etc), who can normally get $1600+ for full rebuild on a MW pump (or a truck/heavy equipment diesel pump) to try and do all this work for less money.

And as a shop owner who focuses on the older Mercedes, I will add that a lot of customers would not mind having some more HP in their old diesel. They are not interested in turning the car into an AMG mercedes, but most people would not be against an extra 50-80 HP that a high flow pump can provide.
These people are pleased with little performance increases that occur with a valve adjustment, newly rebuilt injectors, turbo wastegate adjustment, or turning up the ALDA screw.

However, whenever I have mentioned what it would cost for a modified pump + labor, modified/rebuilt turbo + labor, not a single person has taken me up on putting in a modified pump. If a high flow pump costs $1200-1500, add in shop labor and this will easily put that modification alone to $2000+. You can buy a complete, running w123 for less than that price. And you won't get the most out of a high output pump if all else isn't in good order, like if the timing chain is stretched or injectors are worn out or your turbo is shot. If these need tuning then that is additional expense. Factor all that in and the cost for a full overhaul to really get the car dialed in is way out of most people's budget. I am game to do these mods but I have never had anyone cough up the dough, even some of my more wealthy customers.

At a certain point, for the money you will need to spend to PROPERLY modify a diesel w123, you might as well just stop trying to make it something it was never intended to be and just get a V8 equipped Mercedes like a 560SL or 560 SEL / SEC, or something. Or even swap in a V8 into a w123 (considered sacrilege by many). At a certain point, modifying the car to such an extent, the vehicle loses it's soul.

Not worth it. Performance diesels already readily exist....OM648, OM642, OM651......as well as others from other manufacturers. Plus as mentioned, if you want a faster W123, find a 280E, faster W126....420,500,560SEL. I drove a 420SEL for 7 years and it was plenty quick but ate gas like a monster....also, as reliable if not more so than my diesels were....put almost 50k on it with minimal repairs needed.

For me the built not bought aspect of having a 300hp 40 year diesel engine would be far more satisfying than plopping a 642 or 606 or a gas engine in a w123.

I dunno maybe I'm speaking more from my opinion and car dreams.


Id just imagine that if getting a superpump for >$1000 was as easy as it is to get your injectors rebuilt right here on the forum that a lot of people might change their mind as to if they want one or not.

I guess the other side of my question is this??

Is it a very difficult expensive process to make a super pump??

What machinery do you need to make one?

A IP bench tester and a CNC machine?

Are they machining the new bigger elements themselves from scratch? Modifying the originals? Or buying them new from somewhere??


What is the process??

us model made 140hp which is only 15hp more than the 300 turbos 125hp

and M110 has less torque than OM617A

A 92-94 E420 W124 is another alternative for those who just want power in a Mercedes package. The M119 engine in stock trim delivers a 7" 0-60 time. The stock 2.24 rear end gives 24-25 mpg hwy. Early models used full throttle enrichment for peak horsepower. Which meant swapping a 1992 LH module into my 1994, gave approx. 15 horsepower added to the stock 275. For performance, this model is probably the most bang for buck. Biggest negative is the transmission. Still a lot out there at low prices and some have had transmission replaced already.

First things first... there’s no crazy equipment required to build superpumps. It’s just an install of larger elements that pump the fuel and a recalibration of the governor. Building a super pump is no different than just having a stock pump refreshed/recalibrated by a Bosch service center. The install of the superpump elements and external Alda could probably be done yourself. The calibration on the pump dyno is the only “special equipment” needed and while expensive, it’s no different than the equipment needed for a regular pump as mentioned.

In fact... BenzForce sold me my super pump but it’s another facility that has the calibration dyno. Very happy with it BTW.

Can’t believe I piddled around with other little things to try and sneak a few HP here and there when a pump is a bolt-on power multiplier. Get you one!

every element needs to be shimmed (so that every cylinder has the same timing) and every element needs to be at a correct angle so that they all have an even flow

That's why you should never loosen the nuts that hold the pump elements in place

IMO only worth it if you have an OM606, very underrated and cheap to mod when compared to any other vehicle.

Dieselmeken superpumps are great fun and completely worth it. I just ran my first 33% boost run on my 606 126 last week and am smiling still today. Now just need to get the brakes working proper, I didn't realize the rear calipers were locked on until pad smoke was billowing out and they released the brake fluid, it was still faster than my old 500sel on that test taking it real easy...

If you want some more fun options tune a common rail engine. Baldur has made a standalone controller that will run the solenoid injectors now:

Hopefully soon he will be able to run the piezoelectric injectors so we can start really playing with the OM642LS and newer 4cyls. I have my first gen 642 maxed out with stock turbo and it is quite fun, but hear stories of cracked pistons etc so do not want to run the larger turbos/fuel on that motor. The LS version has more head cooling and modern piston coatings to help with heat, hear these changes were implemented for the engine stop/start and more power on the later cars.

So invest in the equipment, develop the parts, develop the expertise, AND price it lower AND offer group discounts. I can’t imagine why folks wouldn’t be all over that sort of opportunity.

Be glad there are shops in the world where you can get this done, and pay up if you want it.

So are you offering to bankroll the effort?

I have built and tuned 10mm MW pumps in the past and like one of the previous posters mentioned, no one wants to pay the price lol.. Everyone discounts the work and knowledge of others it seems

The $700 shipped is very unrealistic as well. For example, new Bosch delivery valves are $50 ea ($250 right there), then the elements (custom or otherwise), plus you have a gasket kit, and labor to factor in.

A company in India sells a basic calibration bench for around $6000. I have collected most of the parts to build my won, but I have too many projects as it is.

I have thoughts with partnering with the Injector Gentleman to build MW pumps, but MB owners are some of the cheapest people on the planet lol. I don't mean that to be offensive, it is just my experience
