015 mercedes ml 250 bluetec (diesel).

Yesterday I traded the all track in on a 015 Mercedes ml 250 d. So far I like it. It seems to be getting better fuel economy than the vw. ... slightly. Wish it was a stick. Ride and handling is better in most instances than the vw and it is rated to tow 6600#.

It is amazing how well the little four cylinder 2.1 liter moves it along. It does have two turbos though, one for taking off and the other for higher rpm work.

With 97,000 miles it looks new except for curb damage on all four wheels and some wear on the drivers seat. It has 20" wheels with Pirelli tires, which I'd love to back off to the original size 18" and some old fashioned LT tires.

Its Black with light grey interior. Not first choice of color but it looks great when clean.

Will be interested to see your comments on quality. I bought my daughter a 2002 ML350 from Tyler and have been pretty happy with it - except for a couple of quite expensive repairs.

Some on this forum call it the "Alabama trashcan." Wondering if this was only for the original ML's or if they are still maligned in general.

Please let us know what you think. Personally I would like to have one myself.

The ML's have come a LONG way since the originals.

Welcome to the OM651 Club! I have the miniaturized version of your vehicle.

Good luck with it. Compared to the Porsche diesel, how is it?

it drives very similarly. P was faster with more power. P also had nicer leather interior and may be was more agile. I think the mb has more towing capacity. Also is a mb dealer in Lafayette but not porsche. P also has a lot more buttons and gauges to figure out.

We drove back from Kalamazoo mi today in flying snow. The car never missed a step. Speed was limited by snow part of the time reducing speed. Excellent comfort and total mb confidence behind the wheel.

I still cannot figure out how to switch radio from am to fm though.

Drat!

This has the same generation system as my 2013 and 2014

You repeatedly push the RADIO button on the lower panel and it cycles through FM, AM, and Weather Band.

Or you highlight the FM on the lower strip of the display with the knob and push down, this brings up a sub menu where you can choose the desired 'waveband' as they call it in the manual.

The system on the 2017+ (with the touch pad) is absolutely obtuse compared to this one. I have gotten a couple of dealer loaners lately and it is impossible to adjust while going down the road safely.

Fortunately the newest ones come with Apple Car Play and I just sync my phone and stream music from it.

Kalamazoo! Barely an hour from me.

I have a feeling the MB diesel will also be far less costly to own/maintain than a Porsche, so there's that too.
