W211 2006 E320 CDI Oil Dipstick?

There is an engine oil level dipstick located near the firewall 5 o'clock position of the '06. As identified in the Owners Manual. It has a Red cap.

Has anyone checked their oil level there before replacement of the engine cover/cowling?

On my two, at any rate, that's not a dipstick...it's just a cap to the tube. I think you can buy a measuring tool to stick down there. For most of us it's just the tube through which to extract the oil.

You had the car for a number of years. What took you so long to ask this question? You are wrenching your car now, by necessity or by choice? There is no dip stick. You can get it from the computer.

Understood. That makes sense. I believe my 99 E300 transmission fluid fill shaft had a similar "red cap only, " too. So I now follow you.

Questions:

Would you happen to know about and where I can find the RESET to the Engine Maintenance of my CDI? I cannot figure out how to dismiss the beep display from start up; "Needs Service E" from the DIC/Instrument Cluster....

Also - I'm looking for the oil fluid quantity Display. I have 7 qts. of new oil in the crankcase, and the Owner's Manual calls for 8 qts. I just don't want to overfill it!

What type if machine do you use to evacuate the CDI engine crankcase of oil? I just might want to procure one.

Do a Youtube search for your first two questions.

As to the third, I used to use a Mityvac fluid extractor. Now I use a 12v pump.

If you have overfilled, you will get an instrument cluster message.

At one time, I did find the oil level in qts. of the car in the instrument cluster. Just cannot find it now. I thought I saw instructions in the Owners Manual.

The "Service due" at start up to cancel scoured You Tube to no avail.

See page 321 on the pdf in the link to call up the oil level.
Procedure to manually clear the Service due message at startup is on page 361.

Actually resetting the Service due message is a proprietary procedure (per page 362)...but the YouTube video below shows the procedure for the accessing hidden menu:
