w123 Red and Orange break light indicator

So I never took notice before but both my Orang and Red break indicators are ON till the engine start. How ever the manual indicates only Charging light should be on. I looked over you tube for some cold start video and see some people have only orange on some have both.

What is the correct behavior ?

That is perfectly normal. The orange (brake pad wear) and red (low fluid/park brake) lights are self-tested when the key is in position II and the engine is not running.

The charge light should be lit without the engine running because of the way the alternator regulation circuit works. They use this potential through a couple diodes and resistors to also self-test the brake warning lights.

In the later 123s the low fuel warning light also self tests.

Hi! The PO claimed that the BRAKE warning light on the dash(is always lit) was nothing to be worried about when I bought this car last month. He said its the parking brake light, that the linkage is out of adjustment and thats all. Just adjust it, and it will go out. (or pull out the bulb he he he) Sounds convincing. So is that all that light is for? Sarkari Result Pnr Status 192.168.1.1
