97 E300 Flex disk and drive shaft questions

I'm trying to eliminate vibration. I took the car into the shop recently because I don't know personally how to determine if ball joints, control arm bushings, etc are bad. It was noted that the flex disk should be replaced. I assume there is one by the differential as well? If so, are they the same part number for both? I was planning to purchase: Febi-Bilstein Drive Shaft Flex Disc/Joint Kit P/N: 2024101315. Cross References: 1244100215 1244101315 2024101315U 3909 W01331620211 For: Mercedes E320, C230, 300E, 190E, 300D, E300D, 300SE, 300CE, 300SEL, 300TE & more

Also, since I'll be disconnecting the driveshaft, should I automatically worry about replacing the center support bearing? How do I know if it's bad, just visual inspection or somehow apply force to driveshaft and look for movement? Anything else to do while I'm in there?

As you can surmise, I've never worked on a drive shaft before. Another question - any special tools required? I have ramps, jack stands, floor jacks, torque wrench (but will need to find torque values!), and other standard stuff.

Yes you have 2 flex discs one by the tranny and one by the diff.

it's a 2 piece driveshaft

driveshaft collapses in the middle for removal sometimes you have to loosen the 46mm nut but it should just slide apart by itself.

When you re-install it pay attention to the markings because if you don't line up the markings on the 2 driveshafts then you will get a vibration and if you end up loosening up the nut then the torque on that big nut is only 25nm iirc (supposed to slide in and out with the nut tightened).

center support bearings are cheap so just replace it while you're in there

make sure that your center u-joint rotates freely if it's notchy then you should get your driveshaft rebuilt

Thanks! And the two flex disks would be the same part number?

I'm confused by the listings (attached pic) here on our Pelican Parts catalog. Seems like the same part number is used for either front/back for some cars, but only front for others. Some have part numbers starting with 202 and some with 210. The plate on my front cross member has code 807. My VIN ends in A364220. Just to make sure I understand this, the first part listed in the attached pic would fit my car front and back because of the part in bold:

from chassis # A 177064, from chassis # J 024802, Except for cars with (Code 806)., through chassis # A 177063, through chassis # J 024801, For cars with (Code 807).;
through chassis # A 177063, through chassis # J 024801, Except for cars with (Code 807)., from chassis # A 177064, from chassis # J 024802, For cars with (Code 806).Fits rear, front or rear of vehicle.

Were you able to sort out your vibration? Sorry this is an old post but I'm trying to sort a vibration.
