W123 Sedan Roof Rail Repair
2 Attachment(s)
Hey folks. Does anyone have any suggestions for a decent looking fix to the roof rails degrading on my 300D sedan? I havent ever found new ones for sale, and I don’t believe it’s possible to remove original ones from a donor car without ruining them in the process. I’m tempted to mask off the paint really well, and use some thick black epoxy to try to tie the aluminum back to the degraded plastic/rubber rail.

I pulled mine completely off and replaced them with door edge molding from a big-box auto supply. Fits tightly and has been on there for about two years so far. They come in plastic chrome or black. I chose chrome.
I would upload pix but car is in body shop right now. |
A company in Germany is reproducing the black rubber trim. It’s about $250 for both sides. They posted to the W123 FB group a couple of weeks ago.

Drip Rails
Those are not the sunroof rails....
I'd think 'uro' makes these if no one else.... |
Right. It’s the rain gutter rubber trim. I haven’t seen the URO made ones yet

IIRC the Ebay seller in Israel has these, I don't know if original, much of his stock isn't .
Once you find the correct part # searching becomes easier . Or just search using 'W123' but you'll have to wade through thousands of listings . |
eBay item number: 202954326189

Hi guys, unfortunately we don't offer the rain gutter trim.
|
Thanks folks! I’m going to order the rails from the ebay UK listing. Does anyone speak German well enough to tell if that listing is per side or per car by chance?
|
Says "without the Metal trim, only Molding" and "Preis für eine Seite / Price for one Side".
|
Post back how it fits. I need some too.
