throttle linkage dieselmenken
hi everyone. i’ve read a lot on this site as i’ve been rebuilding my om617 to use in a project vehicle. i haven’t posted yet but have now run into a question i can’t seem to find an answer for.
i have a 1981 td300 that had a mw pump on it. i have purchased a m pump and had it build by dieselmeken prior to him now building mw pump elements. as i am installing it on my engine and hook my throttle linkages up i have noticed that the mw pump “stop” button for manually shutting the fuel off causes the throttle arm on the pump to move counter to the direction it mover when the throttle cable opens up the throttle. i assume this manually shuts off fuel supply to the pump. . on my m pump it doesn’t do that. my question is for those that have used a dieselmeken modified pump can i still use that manual stop button or does that feature go away when he modified it? there is no play in the throttle arm or at the stop button/ linkages when i press it. (i’m having a hard time loading any photos. my files might just be too big. ill try to adjust so i can show you what i have) Last edited by franklin40; 06-12-2020 at 06:19 PM. I've always heard u have to get the euro m pump linkage to use the m pump.
Or u have to make it all custom

i have the euro linkage as well. it came with my pump. ill play with it a bit and see.
what makes me question if it will work is that on my mw pump the throttle lever on the block side of the pump returns to is rest position can then be moved up when the stop button is pushed and down when the throttle cable is pulled. on my m pump the rest position is all the way up so i can’t make it move with the stop button. even with all the linkages disconnected the rest position is al the way up. there’s no possible further travel for the stop linkage to move it. |

ok i heard from dieselmeken and was told that the stop linkage of the mw pump will work as a throttle linkage but the stop function doesn’t work on the m pump. the lever on the side of the pump opposite to the block that is part of the external alda is actually the stop lever on the m pump. you can push down on this lever and it will manually shut off fuel to the pump. hope this helps anyone who is trying to install an m pump on a mw engine! i looked at the linkage (only the linkage for the throttle) and the m and mw linkages are essentially the same in terms of pivot on the pump side of the block. the difference is on top of the valve cover and the linkage to the fire wall.
