OM606.9612 Fuel Shut off Solenoid

OM606.9612 epump ...can anyone guide on the symptoms of a bad fuel shut off solenoid? No fuel is reaching my injectors. Is fuel shutoff controlled by the computer or a standalone systems. If the fuel shut off solenoid is the problem can anyone guide in the process of testing and replacement?

It would be helpful if you posted your year, model and chassis if you know it.

Ok I am assuming you have a OM606.962 which was fitted to the 1998 and 1999 E300 Turbo Diesels.

edit:
Reason I ask is there is also a OM606.910 which was used on the 1995 E300 but it was a mechanical pump.
And a OM606.912 which has the electronic pump on the 1996 and 1997 E300 Non-Turbo Diesels.

I am further assuming you have a crank no start or dies while running condition.

The .912 and 962 injection pumps are electronically controlled by the ECU.
The fuel solenoid is also controlled by the ECU.

I had a problem with my 1998 E300 where it would die or fail to start. It turned out to be the crank angle sensor down on the left side of the bell housing.

Read my thread on this: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/diesel-discussion/393787-w210-can-bus-issues.html
Skip ahead to post #19 where I finally figure out the root cause.

It is very important to go to the dealer and get an MB branded sensor. For some reason the Bosch 'equivalent' will not work.

jay_bob,

I also have a 1997 E300D (you're currently helping me with a blower fan issue!). But, regarding Bosch replacement parts, Jeep Wanglers have a Bosch O2 sensor story that may be related. I guess for a number of years, including those years of Daimler-Chrysler, Jeep used an unusual low volt system for O2 sensors and Bosch (and maybe others?) didn't make their replacement sensors the right way. I've seen oscilloscope screens on YouTube showing the problem. Not that I understand oscilloscopes, but it seemed convincing! :-) Maybe MB has an unusual sensor electrical network that Bosch didn't get right. It would be strange, considering the good close relationship between Bosch and MB, but possible since the Daimler-Chrysler models of Wranglers were affected.
