I just replaced my injection pump and as there wasn’t a core charge I decided to disassemble the old one. It was worth every penny I may have made selling it as a core. WOW! That pump is a mechanical work of art! I have a background understanding of Bosch’ history and his company’s significant contribution to the successful application of Diesel Motors but this experience has given me a a whole new perspective. If I had the money & tools it would make one hell of a display piece. The number of parts used in construction, the quality, and the mechanical intricacies were astounding to me personally. I now I have an in depth appreciation for the cost of a rebuilt pump and the incentive to maintain the ones we have. I’ll be treating the replacement like a treasured gem. The engineering is arguably more sophisticated than any diesel motor I’ve seen. I’m inclined to get it all cleaned up and make a shop wall display. Too many projects. I’m sure there are others who’ve made one other than the manufacturer. Google may tell. Anyway, just an observation.
I’m going to store the lift pump separately as a a spare. Does anyone have recommendations for other parts I should set aside? D-valves?
