Another option: Take the bad one with both end fittings (even if it's totally broken in two) down to your local Parker or Swagelok store and they'll make one up for you. They can make it out of teflon lined braided stainless or whatever material you prefer. Our local Parker store made my line to go from an S10 master cylinder to the Mercedes slave and I think it was $25ish in braided stainless.

Folks often don't know that there are specialists in almost every town who can make about any hose you can think of (power steering, flexible brake, AC, etc.) for less money than M-B charges and they will be of higher quality. The lines used in production are the cheapest ones that the manufacturer (not just Mercedes) thinks will do the job and they're generally OK but better stuff is out there if you do a little looking.

Now you tell me?

Dan,
Curses! Why did you wait until now to mention this? I replaced all my brake lines last week! 😉
Great tip, Parker’s good stuff. I can probably pitch the steel slave line and go with a long hose too.
I appreciate the tip.

Actually I've offered up this tip on there before but unless you happened to read that particular thread you would have missed it. I use the heck out of local resources - for example, I had the driveshaft built by a local shop and it works great even at much higher RPMs that most folks would ever see on the street. This is not a race shop, just a regular repair facility. IIRC, the driveshaft was only $125ish and he gave it an extra effort on the balance. Mercedes folks tend to think that everything needs to come from M-B if at all possible and while their stuff is nice (and sometimes cheaper so you have to check) they are just cars and if the part fits and makes the needed thing happen it will be OK.

Smile All good advoce

Dan,
I hope you realize I was kidding about the late advice. It was my failure to be more diligent and I look forward to reading your earlier posts.
I’m not an MBZ only advocate unless it makes good sense Or there’s no available or reliable options. I really appreciate you sharing that experience.

Dan,
Could you provide the name of the above mentioned thread? I can’t seem to find it.

I can't recall. Someone had a similar question to yours (seems like it might have been a power steering hose but it was some time ago) and I posted basically the same thing I just posted to you.

Parker (our local vendor is Fensel's) and Diesel supply places are great resources as we keep our antique Mercedes' running - or in my case, an antique Mercedes engine and trans.
