I thought I'd post a tip on how to fix a broken hood spring mount.on my 300D.
The spring attaches on front hinge and to an eye tab that is welded to the firewall. It had rusted thru. No eye. I cut a 2" wide piece of 1.5" angle and drilled a hole to hold the spring. Welding it in would have worked if I had a welder but I ended up tapping three 1/4" holes to hold the angle. The fender had to be removed to access the hinge bolt and the hinge removed to allow access. Drilling and tapping was done using a air drill which was narrow enough to fit in the slot. My cordless was way to wide. I now have a functional hood. The cause was not pressure washing out the area under the hood hinges which fills up with leaves and dirt.
