Resting on my laurels...for now...(little long)
Since I've purchased my car I've also purchased about a $100 of basic tools and supplies. Jobs completed:
repaired monovalve replaced glow plugs replaced pre and main fuel filters replaced air cleaner replaced window regulator and door handle replaced tailgate shocks changed oil & filter replaced front dash speakers removed gearshift cover, cleaned all window switch connections, cleaned out PRNDL and replaced bulb replaced dash bulbs, bypassing potentiometer using my 12v cell phone charge adapter and some ingenuity I've bypassed the cigarette lighter, buried the bulk of the adapter in the ash tray and simply have the cord to the cell phone trailing out underneath the ash tray. The car is running great- next step is to wash down the injectors with some diesel purge. Most of this stuff is routine for you experts but a real accomplishment for me as I'm relatively new to wrenching. It's been a satisfying experience and it's nice to work on something which is of such quality that it always go backs together the way you took it apart (if you're careful, that is) |
Sounds like it is time to sell it and get a new project..... ?

Shawn,
Do you have any problems with cigar ashes clogging the cell phone adapter?;) |
Er.....Um.....
No, because I don't smoke stogies. Obviously the previous, previous owner smoked though because behind the ash tray, between the wood trim and the ash tray, and under the shifter cover was FULL of gray ash...got the kirby out and took care of that right quick!
