Flame Heater Starting Aid.

I noticed perkins diesels have these systems on their old tractors.

Saw a video on it a few days ago and decided to give it go.

Removed the intake cross over pipe. I then proceeded to wet the back of the plenum with klean heat heating oil with a large metal syringe used for grilling. Careful not to get too much in the runners.

Took a propane torch and lit it up and let it burn out, repeated the process 3 or 4 times to saturate the plenum with heat.

Too my surprise it started up in a few cranks!
Honestly might just buy the entire perkins system and rig it to my car.

This will do for the time being until I can one day fix the glow plugs

What is wrong with you Glow Plugs?

I like it. You never know when good glow plugs are going to be hard to find, to say nothing of the rest of the timer system. There's your doomsday mod if you're a nutter. I imagine it would be pretty easy to rig up. Post it if you do.

Charlie

multiple glow plugs dead and frayed wiring

The intake manifold bolt stripped, then the extractor broke off...

The car is in very rough shape and is the back up car.
Not restoring it.

@Rogviler I'm about to buy the perkins OEM parts and rig it up, somehow...

The glow system is simple. Buy a box of connectors on amazon and some wire and build or repair the harness.

Do something different and fun to tinker with if it's a junker anyway.

Have thought about this myself too but I have no need for it with our temperatures.

Why swap in the "Perkins system" there's like 3 parts to it. Well two main ones....
Thermostart seems to be their name for it
