Interesting thread. My only 240D was a four speed manual and I loved the car. My brother wanted it back so we made a deal on the black 85 380SE which now houses the om617. I don't much miss the 240D though I could never complain about the acceleration or top speed.
I was retired when I bought it and never went anywhere in a hurry. Frankly, I don't recall ever taking an interstate. I did make the drive from Easley, SC through Clayton, GA across the mountain to Cleveland, TN or as it was called the scenic route. I suppose I enjoyed life more just driving that old car than restoring this w126. I hope to paint it before summer is over, maybe I'll enjoying driving again this fall. Maybe I do miss it just a little.

That I do not know. I did just replace the head unit last night with a Pioneer, for $130. I think I have antenna issues. Still, I would not mind to have a period correct radio. Then see about upgrading it.
