OM617 Torque Values Rocker Arm

Hello All,

Replaced the valve stem seals on an OM617 and cannot find the torque values for the rocker arm assembly bolts. They are long, 8mm, hex bolts that look like they are supposed to stretch.

Thanks,
1982 300D

Retorqued to 38 Nm. Seems so low but I have no experience with these tapered, stretch bolts.
Thank you for the prompt response. Like an overnight gift. I awake to the answer.

Thank You Diesel911

I would make sure that the stretch bolts are not "one time" use. In some applications, they cannot be reused once removed. Good luck!!

I looked up the torque info form the Mercedes Service Manual on CD and there was nothing about the rocker arm bracket bolts needing to be replaced.

With the head bolts on a 617.952 that is different. Even they can be reused if you measure the the length and they are still within spec. If not they need to be replaced.

Why having access to the service manual is important!
