I have not heard that though I don't doubt you could build one from scratch using all new parts.

You can do that with a MGB or a classic mini. The british motor heritage makes complete body shells for them. They actually bought the dies from BL/Austin Rover

I bought an 84SD for $1500, have driven it for at least 8 years and still have plenty to do to make it as I want. Simply buying tires and suspension parts which are already installed would cost the buyer $1,000. It's soon going to be up for sale asking $2500 and I'll be happy to get $2000 for it.

I keep a log of all fuel, mileage and parts bought. Parts add up and there probably $5000 has been spent. I maintain that amount is necessary to fix most of what's available on the market. I've looked at several cars recently and most people quit maintaining them and at some point, sell them. Most are ragged out what used to be nice cars but fixable if the price is worth it to you.

I'm in the process of cleaning out my projects by either fixing them to last 25 years at which point, they'll be someone else's project OR selling them. I'm not really good at selling them but am not buying any more projects. I am building a nice shop to work on them.

The plan is stay healthy, enjoy family, ride my bike, play.

This was suppose to be a turn key with VIN and modern engine. Its been a while though. I think there was some stuff on the DeLorean being put back into production. I think an LS-1 motor or such. I see some also on old classics being converted to EV.

I'm just glad that my last W126 I bought, drove 7 years/55k miles and then sold again for nearly what I bought it for (minus about $5,500 in repairs over those 7 years)...

If I lived in a nice dry warm climate I'd keep around a W123 or W126....but around here there's no point unless its a summer only car....then you need room somewhere to store it.

I'll be enjoying my soon to be re-warrantied bluetec for the next ~4-5 years at least then I'll re-consider the direction to take, which may be electric at that point based on how things are progressing. I've been debating picking up a cheap B250e to have an electric runabout to play with.

I'd buy a brand new 79 280TE if I could! Price it the same as the comparable modern E class wagon, and you'd find me getting my first ever auto loan.

PERHAPS THE BEST CARS EVER BUILT, NOW BUILD THEM AGAIN. I know I'd be the first to plunk down my coin for a new 300D!!

It is both, actually. Just gotta keep your head down and keep plodding. Push away the bad and embrace the good.

As e cars progress, batteries improve, prices come down, and the used e car market expands ICE cars including our old MBs make less sense by the minute as daily drivers.

BaT is way too pricey for me to use for selling.

I'm considering using RVTrader.com to sell my Class C diesel RV. They're like $99.00, to run an ad, and photos are extra!

Bidding on older cars not seen and properly inspected. Even if you have money to burn.Still not the best ideal. Hard to avoid the rose coloured glasses sometimes.

My best results over the years on older cars. Where from leaving notes under the windshield wipers.Basically stating do not throw this note away if you think you may sell this car someday. Put it in the glove compartment.

What a person may pay highly depends on their comfort zone.
