W126 crank vibration absorber removal

Having a hard time getting the absorber/damper off the crank shaft. I think it welded itself to the shaft. Iv been using liquid wrench and a 2 leg gear puller but I’m afraid to bend the disk. Any suggestions? Thanks

Year and model?

You need a crank puller on either the 617 or 603. You need to put bolts where the small allen head screws go

A gear puller will not work.

In another posts he speaks about an 82 300SD with front pulleys touching each other so I am guessing that is what his vehicle is.

The vibration damper is secured to the balancing disc by the same six screws that secure the belt pulley. With those screws removed, the damper should come off in your hand.

If you are actually referring to the balancing disc, you will need a harmonic balancer puller. Plenty of parts stores have them in their loaner tool inventory.

I just got done removing the 6 allen head screws and the Crank Pulley from my OM 617.952 on my 84 300D and there was no sort of damper between that and the Crankshaft Hub which is held in with the 27mm central Bolt.

Do some engines not have a damper?

Oops. It was just so stuck on with crud it did not appear to like it could come off without removing the central bolt. Loosened it with a dead blow hammer and a little prying git it off.
