W123 bumper gaurds

I have NEVER seen these before, but I love them. I'm 99% these are a RARE factory option/part. Can anyone confirm this? Either way they look awsome!

bumper guards

i believe i have seen them on some taxis in Germany.

John these were NEVER offered from the factory. I too love the look of "over-riders" as they are commonly called on VWs and Porsches of vintage flair, but Mercedes never offered them as factory. What you are seeing is what was a common aftermarket in the 70's and 80's, when 5mph bumper testing was at its peak. Many owners of American cars and the like retro fitted these "dagmars" as an added measure of safety. They do look nice on the 123, but they were never offered by Mercedes Benz. Hope this helps.

Yes, that is in NJ. It's an 84 300D with 75K miles, though by looking at some of the pictures im not sure it has 75K. He wants $5K for it.

So he is charging $2400 for the bumper mod :D

84300DT 07-01-2002 01:41 PM

it might be possible it only has 75k mi.if it was parked outside its whole life, but 5k is still a lot of $$$
;)

I dunno guys, call me crazy, but I think 5gs for a car with 75K is a steal! Maybe its because I've put that into my car 3 fold over the years, but I truely don't think 5 large for a car that's good for another 100k of relatively TROUBLE FREE miles. Sure it can go 3 times 100K, but for intensive purposes, 175K, things can get expensive. My 2 cents about the matter, maybe I'm being unreasonable, but really, can you put a price on w123 ownership?

84300DT 07-01-2002 03:03 PM

randall, umm maybe i was a bit hasty.. if it really does have 75k and everything or almost everything works on it well ya i guess 5k would not be beyond the realm of reasonable - but mainly i think you said it all rite at the end of your post:)

It's all yours if you want it. That engine does not look like 75K miles. And the tranny was recently rebuilt? Puts up a red flag in my mind..

john, after looking carefully at those pics i also wonder about
the 75k and the garaged for 20 yrs claims. maybe the $3050 bid
is more like it.
