W124 300D - Cluster randomly losing power

1992 300D OM603

Sometimes the electronic parts of the cluster stop working (fuel gauge/coolant temp/oil pressure), speedo still works though.

Idle drops or fluctuates a bit too.

Then it comes back like nothing happened.

I searched and a lot of people that had it say its a loose connection at the fuses. I removed and reinstalled all cluster related fuses (all copper), and it stopped for a while, but problem is starting to come back.

Any advice on what else to check on?

ground for cluster seems likely. Loose or corroded. Good to provide year and model in these cases.

How did you get a 603 in your 92? My 91 has the OM602.

The rheostat on the adjustment knob? I've had problems with these on other W123 and W124's and they only ever killed the illumination?

But will check it too when I check the ground, thanks!
