1987 300TD (w124) electrical gremlin
Hey gang. My oil pressure gauge, fuel gauge, and engine temp gauge are all inoperable and I can hear a faint buzzer from behind the dash. Also, the #5 fuse keeps blowing.
Any ideas? The car is a 1987 300TDT and I’m about to make a long trip. Many thanks, Corvo Gold 1987 300TD, converted to manual |

This happened to me and when I searched, a lot of resolutions came from checking the fuse panels and replacing or reseating the fuses related to the cluster. I did this and that fixed it so far.

The fuse blowing sounds like a short. You need the wiring diagram for your car and see what fuse 5 feeds. Once you know that, connect a 12v bulb across fuse 5. It should turn on because there is a short. Now start un plugging the items on the fuse 5 circuit one at a time till the light goes out. If you’re lucky you will find what is consuming all the electricity.
