1984 300D clutch slave cylinder
Hi guys
I’ve got a 5 speed manual 300d at the moment my biting point is literally almost instantly from releasing the pedal. The clutch is still fine and working correctly and completely air free. Wondering if the wrong length slave cylinder rod and possible missing spacer could be the cause of this? Cheers Dan UK |

You have used the term "at the moment". Was there a time when the point of engagement was higher? If so, what has occurred in the interval? Parts changed, adjustments, etc. |

Long story short
On the motorway I lost my clutch, it went to the floor. Slave cylinder was at fault. I took it to the garage and got both the slave and master cylinder changed at the same time. On leaving the garage the pedal was so spongy and the biting point was on the floor. I did some research then inspected the work, they had not plugged the feed elbow in to the master cylinder properly, I had to take it all of and also found that they had used the wrong rod, so I changed this all myself ( should have done it myself in the first place.) all bleed up and air free and having the same issue, the biting point is still on the floor. I have today bought a genuine part from the dealer and a new spacer. I will fit this new part again myself, I did not know there were two slave cylinder types for the 4 and 5 speed manual. So if the spacer was missing and the cylinder was the wrong one on there now would that cause a low biting point still? |

If you will tie this thread to the three previous ones on the same matter, it will help folks on the forum, and perhaps you also. |
