1982 300sd turn signals not working
I got a 300sd as a project car and I have been mostly successful with it but one thing still keeps me from moving forward with the project. The turn signals. They don't turn on when I use the lever that should activate the lights to say you're turning. They turn on when you use the hazard lights and nothing seems to be disconnected, I have switched the relay but nothing. so I am at a loss. I am open to anything.

I’m trying to remember what I did on mine… too many threads to search through over the years.
You have replaced the flasher already… hmmm check the fuses?

Start tracing and metering wires from where the turn signal stalk connects back to the relay. I'm thinking either wiring issue, or an issue with the cam under the steering wheel that activates and cancels the turn signals.

I could very well be missing something obvious here, but, wouldn't the turn signal switch, itself, be suspect? The only reference I have is my '83 240D and I don't know if there are differences between the two turn signal systems. Also wondered, do the high beams operate properly? I'm assuming they're operated with the turn signal stock, too?

that was my next step. I was going to remove the steering wheel to get to it. i was going to see if everything was connected there but I have not found the time. and yes the high beams work

it can do that? I learned that this car is more sophisticated than I had originally thought every time I work in it.

A long parked car has some waking up to do in the electric dept . gremlins are lurking on the circuits , moisture on any aluminum will whiten and get a chalky dust ,what I do is I leave the turn signal on , leave the car running , just work with it left then right while current is running , one side , then the other , 10 minutes at a time , Say 30 minutes , sometimes it just needs time .
