I'm pretty sure I'll be needing a new viscous fan element for my 83 300D soon and I think I would like to replace it with an electric lashup (since the originals are expensive and problematic). Has anyone replaced theirs with some other electric type, say out of a GM or Ford, etc. What seems to fit well? How did you wire it? What did you do with the aux electric fan out front?

I've never replaced one at all. I don't think they are a typical problem area. If I wanted to simplify this, however, I believe I would use a solid fan mount from a 240D. At least the Euro has a solid mount.
