Cool 1700 Mile Road Trip!

Well,
I just got back from taking my 1980 300D on a 1700 mile road trip!
I took my family from Fort Worth Texas to Knoxville Tennessee and back.
Except for not having A/C, the trip was wonderful! The car drove so smooth and straight with no noise, shakes or rattles.
I averaged 25 mpg, and did not burn any oil. She ran at 95 degrees constant.
This car just drove and drove. I kept the speed right about 65 mph in the 70 mph zones, unless I needed to pass, then I had power to pass. The car slowed on some of the mountain inclines, but for the most part had plenty of power. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere, but it sure was hot! Anyway I just had to let everyone know,
Robert Frick

Way !!

Sounds like my trip from DFW back home at the beginning of the month (also going to San Antonio and L.A.). Even ran at about the same temp (although my a/c's kinda working).

We had recently driven from here in NJ to Walt Disney World in our TD. Round trip it worked out to about 2200 miles. Averaged 65-70 mph, A/C all the time, temp stayed at 90c, averaged 28 mpg. Not too shabby for a 19 year old car weighing about 4200 lbs.(car, family and luggage).

Will be heading to PA soon and expect to turn about 1700 miles on the clock as we'll be taking in Ocean City, NJ as well. Just put new wheel bearings in the front to get her ready.
