Quick help needed from ANY W124 or W126 owner.
Can someone provide a picture of the wiring of both driver's side door contact switches (for courtesy lights). Thanks in advance.

Did you find what you were looking for? If not, let me know if you need a picture from the shop manual.

Sixto:
Thanks, I'd appreciate that! The red wire from light in the bottom of the driver's door has 12v, but the brown wire isn't grounded. If I run the brown wire to the door contact switch (the one with a bunch of brown wires) it works fine. However, I can't get the dome light to come on when the driver's door opens. I think some wires got disconnected, and I might need to fish them out of the kick panel. |

speedy,
The wiring diagram is part of a ~50MB file and I don't have Acrobat at home so I can't parse pages. FWIW, the circuit on the W126 is relatively simple. It shows that both front doors ground at the same point. If your passenger door activates the courtesy light, it could be a bad wire but probably not a bad ground. The driver's door is unique in that the ground signal to the courtesy light goes through the seatbelt/key/light warning module. On a W126, it's above the brake pedal. If your warning module doesn't work (the buzzer should sound for a few seconds until you fasten your seatbelt, turn off the engine with the lights on, open the door with the key in the ignition), I'll bet that's why the courtesy light doesn't work. Hope that helps. Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL |
