I can see some drops of ATF on manual tranny drain plug in my 240D. There were no washers on fill and drain plugs on tranny and differential when I bought the car.. I am wondering if they are not supposed to need any... Any advice on how to deal with this ??

The drain plug has either stripped threads( less likely senario) or the washer on the drain plug has lost its compressibility. Its an aluminum washe/seal dealer cost about 25 cents. Replace that and tighten to specified torque and you will be fine. But in doing so you will drain the fluid so have some cans on tranny fluid in spare.
